If you are tired of looking at your barren backyard day after day you could think about adding a bit of green to it. These days Landscaping is greatly in vogue. You must have seen landscaping in public parks, office complexes and hotels and marveled at their beauty. With a little time and patience, you can do the same to your own backyard. If you like gardening then you can go about landscaping on your own. First of all you need to have a proper plan for your landscape. Design the layout that you want and go about. Select the flowers and trees that you want in your garden. Select the accessories and then go about the work. The work has to be started with preparing the soil. First you prepare the soil, sow the seeds and water them. In time you will have a garden around you. Now you can go about decorating your garden to make it a lovely landscape. |

The lawn is the most dominant feature of the American home landscape. Most people have lawns to some degree. The lawn may have a flowerbed located in its middle, or it may be reduced in size by a patio, but it is, for the most part, ever present. Not just any sod or grass seed will work everywhere. It is important when you begin designing and building your landscape that you choose grass that will thrive and that is likely to succeed. It is also very important to select grass that answers your ideas of maintenance. Before you select your grass, however, it is important to decide were you will put it. Practical consideration of how to efficiently water the lawn and care for it is part of the determination as to whether or not your turf will survive. It is not a particularly sound practice to seed or lay sod in long, narrow strips of landscape. Grass is much better in larger square areas. Odd shaped areas of grass may not receive the water they need (it can be going other places, like onto the driveway or in the lower garden, especially with sprinkler irrigation), while large blocky areas are easier to water and easier to mow. Take this into account even before you select the grass for your landscape. |

There are many things a homeowner can do to increase the beauty, interest, and security of their home, but few are as simple and economical as adding landscape lighting. Not only are the options and variations of hardware quite vast, decorating with light provides an almost limitless range of possibilities, some of which are quickly changeable to change moods with the occasion or season. The basic elements of landscape lighting are the light fixtures themselves, which come in a wide variety of styles and light options – including different colors of light! The fun really begins when selecting light patterns and colors. |

It is inarguable that one of the finest things about a summer day is being able to spend the day floating in your pool. That's right, your pool. Not a public beach filled with children who like to run by and take stand in face, not a community center where the chlorine is high enough to melt the skin off of your hands because there's always the chance that somebody's child jumped in without their diaper again, your own pool. Your pool, in which you can float along in your back, feel the breeze on your face and enjoy the absolute freedom of knowing that nobody is going to decide to jump in, do a cannonball and ruin the moment for you. Having your own pool also means being able to design it in any manner you choose. There are certain factors that are absolutely required prior to installing a pool, which ever type you may have. It is absolutely necessary that a pool be placed on a flat piece of land. If you are installing an inground pool it will probably be necessary to hire a bulldozer and back for this process. If you've purchased an aboveground pool it will probably be sufficient to take stand or some other type of material and level the ground (although if you should choose to take a bulldozer and level the ground before installing an aboveground pool that is never a bad idea). Word to the wise: which ever pool you happen to have, make sure that it is well clear of the septic tank. This will probably be a requirement prior to being able to obtain a permit to have the pool, but just in case... |

A complete makeover of your home’s landscape may not be possible. After all, there is no surprise that if you choose to completely re-do your landscape you will spend a great deal of money. However, there are surprising hidden costs in nearly any landscaping project, even some of the small ones. It is important to be aware of some of the costs that you might not normally think of before you begin a project. Otherwise, you will find that the project’s true cost is much more than you thought it would be, and you may discover that you might not have been able to afford your landscape change after all. Perhaps the most hidden of landscaping costs involves features that require lighting and water. Many people think only of the cost of the equipment, and the cost of putting it in (which is minimal if they put it in themselves). They fail to consider how much money they will spend in the form of paying for increased energy and water usage. With outdoor lighting, it is possible to mitigate this cost somewhat by buying more energy efficient bulbs, or by confining the use of outdoor lighting to times when there is a special occasion. There is no reason for the lighting if you only use it so that the neighbors can admire your landscape even at night. |

Landscape lighting is a great finishing touch to your yard or garden after you have completed a new project. For many, the prospect of landscaping fills them with dread as they contemplate the inconveniences associated with taking care of plants and gardens and trees without spending a great deal of money to have someone else do it. There are people who enjoy endlessly working on their landscapes (and this is commendable), and there are those who wish to take as little trouble, and spend as little money, as possible about their home’s yard. This is also acceptable. Luckily, for those who want to have a beautifully adorned home, it is possible to do so with a low-maintenance landscape. By carefully choosing plants that need little care, it is possible to have a nice-looking property and save time and money in attention to its upkeep. The keys are good plant selection and the proper establishment of the plants in their places. |

Many people enjoy the dulcet sounds of birds singing and chirping in their yards. Birds are beautiful to look at, and they provide many with an appreciation for nature. There are many benefits associated with attracting birds to the landscape, but in order to experience these benefits, the birds first need to be attracted. It is possible to attract birds to your property by following a few simple design principles, and by choosing plants for your landscape that naturally attract birds. Birdfeeders are old staples for those who wish to see birds in their yards. When using feeders, they should be placed conveniently, and they should also be large enough to hold two to three days’ worth of food. Placing birdfeeders in various parts of the yard can help attract more birds into your landscape. However, the birdfeeders should serve as supplements to the various plants in your yard that provide food and shelter to encourage birds to think of your yard as home. |
